Our Post 16 department works closely with a range of professional service providers with the aim of meeting the needs of all our students both within school and also their home lives. Co-operation with parents/carers and support agencies and the exchange of information enriches teaching and learning and assists with assessing progress.
To enrich the curriculum our students participate with those from a local mainstream high school in inclusive horticulture, outdoor education sessions as well as music projects.
Several local industries and businesses and voluntary organisations are involved in curriculum projects, Work Experience placements and work place visits.
The Connexions Service, through the Personal Advisor and Access Point provide students and their parents/carers with support during transition times. Students are encouraged to explore options to continue their education, participation and attainment through a range of local providers.
We work closely with Barnsley College, Pennine College, Wakefield District College and other providers to exchange up to date information and advice relating to curriculum content and individual student placements.
