    Friends of Oakfield Park School

    Friends of Oakfield Park are holding a Race Night to raise funds for school on Thursday 20th October 2022.

    We would be grateful if you could support us in any way and there are several ways in which you can do this;

    1. Sponsor one or more of the 8 races on the night which will get you acknowledged in our Race Night Programme for just £20 per race.

    2. Be a horse owner for just £3 per horse with the opportunity to name your horse and collect a £10 prize if your horse wins the race.

    3. Be a jockey for just £3 per ride and collect a £10 prize if your horse wins the race.

    4. Donate raffle prizes for the night

    5. Come along and join in the fun.

    Thanking you in anticipation of your kind support.

    If you know anyone else who can help us, local businesses etc..., please feel free to send them a copy of our letter which is attached.

    Yours sincerely

    Linda Lockett

    Can you help us raise funds.

    Our brilliant teacher James is running in the London Marathon on the 2nd of October!!!

    He is raising much needed funds for Friends of Oakfield Park School. Please sponsor him by giving anything you can, we know times are tough at the moment. Every little helps!

    "As someone who has always kept fit and enjoyed all sporting events, London Marathon has been a run that I’ve always wanted to do, even before I was a regular runner. I have been entering the ballot for a place for the last 13 years and this year I was lucky enough to be picked from the ballot and given a spot for the marathon. It is such an iconic event, that takes in many famous landmarks around the capital and makes up one of the 6 Abbott World Marathon majors.

    I received my email saying I was successful while sat eating my dinner with colleagues and instantly knew I wanted to confirm my place and run the marathon to raise funds towards our new school minibus.
    Training for the marathon started off well, I was gradually increasing my mileage from April to June, but with a change from Teaching Assistant to Teacher and the heatwave of a summer we’ve had July and August were difficult months to keep running further and further. September has arrived, with cooler weather (and the race just 5 weeks away) has seen training pick up, distances and pace increase with a 4 part marathon ran at the weekend, completing 4 x 10km runs in different parts of the Wakefield District.

    I now feel ready for the big day on 2nd October and hope to raise additional funds towards our minibus."
