Oakfield Park School drop off and collection.

    Good afternoon all,

We would like to apologise to all our families for the current drop off and collection issues at school yesterday. The safety of our students is paramount and we would like any parents who have a concern to call school and report it so we can pass this on to Home School Transport Team.

We have been made aware of a number of incidents in the school car park due to the large number of home to school transport vehicles and parent vehicles arriving at school at the same time. We have an unusually large number of parents bringing their child to school this week.

Our school day begins at 9am and finishes at 3:15pm. We do not want students to miss out on their education however we also want them to arrive safely to school. Our school carpark is not very large and is not able to accommodate all 155 students arriving at the same time.

We would like to ask all parents to consider arriving at the school carpark after 9am so that the home school transport minibuses have dropped off the students. Most have left around 9:15am. Again in the afternoon we would like to ask parents to arrive at 3:15pm giving the home school transport to collect and leave the site.

We understand you may have other children to collect and may need to arrange an earlier time, if this is the case please contact us.

We are also putting in place a few other measures including our site supervisor being available to help you navigate the carpark and a queuing system for parents and another for Home to School transport assistants so that we can hand over the students safely.

We hope you can support us with making the arrival and departure of your child as safe as possible.

    Thank you
    SLT

    COVID Cases in school

Unfortunately we have had confirmed COVID case in school. If it affects your child directly you will be contacted by telephone.

We are asking all families to be vigilant for symptoms and if possible undertake a lateral flow test at home. If you would like some sending home with your child please let us know.

The main symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are:
a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

If you have any of these symptoms, get a PCR test (test that is sent to a lab) to check if you have coronavirus and stay at home until you get your result.

About 1 in 3 people with coronavirus do not have symptoms but can still infect others. This is why everyone is advised to get tested regularly.
